3v1 Exchange, Layoff and Shooting on Full-Size Goal (Variation) (U18)

Possession, forward passes, layoff, and shooting on a full-size goal. This is a variation of a passing drill that brings together all the elements to offer a quality drill to your players.

Animation: 3v1 Exchange, Layoff and Shooting on Full-Size Goal (Variation)
Set up a rectangle of about 15x10m in which you place 3 attackers and 1 defender. Then place 3 cones about 10m outside the rectangle so your players can perform a series of passes before finishing on a small goal located in front. You can also set up mannequins or constri-foot to replicate match situations.

The exercise starts with a 3vs1 in the small rectangle. After a few exchanges, the player furthest up the field will lay it off in one touch to one of his 2 other teammates in the rectangle. The latter will then play it to player A.

Player A will lay it off to his teammate positioned further back. The layoff must be done in one touch. The second player, B, will then perform a give-and-go with the last player of the drill, C, who will lay it off into space so B can finish on the big goal. The last pass can very well be done as a chip. Let your players' creativity shine!

The first possession phase should be done in 4 to 5 passes to quickly find an available player forward. Once this first phase is completed, it is important that the rest of the exercise is very fast. Player A's one-touch pass must be precise and placed just in front of B so that the latter can quickly play to C.

The pace is crucial in this exercise: the sequences must follow one another to create excitement among your players and avoid boredom. Once again, let their creativity shine, especially on the last pass.

For your information, this is one of the exercises practiced by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City in November 2018.
