The principle is simple: possession in the small central square, then opening up to the large square. In this exercise, players learn to quickly transition from defense to attack and from attack to defense. Gegenpressing, or counter-pressing, is an important training objective. Mark out a small square of 10x10 (or 12x12), as well as an outer square of 30x30 (or 40x40). The size of the field depends on the level of your players and their physical condition. The exercise starts with player possession within the square in 4vs2. The 4 outside green player
