Dribbling then cross: right foot, left foot

Practice crosses with this easy-to-set-up drill that allows for good rotation when you have a large number of players.

Animation: Dribbling then cross: right foot, left foot
On a half field, place 6 cones along the sideline (parallel, about 5m from the line). Also place a marker in line with the goal about 25m away. Ask 4 players to position themselves at the start of the cones (crossers) and 4 other players at the marker (attackers).

The objective for the crossers is to dribble between the cones to exit outside and cross directly after the last cone. The second player makes a dummy run then a diagonal run to receive the cross ideally with one touch.

Some variations possible for this type of drill:
  • Work on both sides (alternately)
  • Work only with the ball on the ground

Make sure to instruct your players to:
  • Look for correct support when striking
  • Remember to look up before crossing to locate their teammate
